Let’s plan your engagement shoot in Newcastle! It’s easy because there are so many great locations nearby (and even a few further ones if you are up for a drive). We’ve explored most of them and listed the best below:
Stockton Sand Dunes
“Simplistic and stunning”- one of my all-time favorite locations! While it a short uphill walk, it’s well worth the view of rolling dunes that stretch on for miles! There is something a little magic about this location, that offers the space to run and play!
Watagans State Pine Forest
This location is well worth the drive. It’s a magical woodland setting and when the light shines through the trees it’s the perfect backdrop!
Newcastle Baths
An iconic Newcastle location featured in so many tourist photos over the years! It’s a great backdrop for your engagement photography by taking advantage of the splash of colour and leading lines of the location. Newcastle baths offer both beach and urban options to explore.
Redhead Beach & Cliffs
Another iconic Newcastle location! It offers cliff-side views coupled with beautiful sand and clear water. A beautiful spot for the early morning and late afternoon and maybe even a dip in the water!
Hickson St Lookout
With breathtaking views over Newcastle beaches, it’s an iconic wedding spot but can be great for engagement photos too!
Catherine Hill Bay
There are so many hidden gems all over Catherine Hill Bay (and the local pub does a mean pizza!). It’s a great excuse for a day out. Bragging both beach and bush locations, it’s a diverse location.
Your Place
An option you might not have considered. Shooting at your place offers such a personal experience and a chance to see you in your own setting, You will feel relaxed and comfortable and be amazed when you look back in 20 years at all your trinkets and photos around the house.
Barrington Tops
If you’re up for the drive it’s a wonderful place to get some stunning and dramatic photos! With so many choices, including the various lookouts, pine forests, trickling streams and possibly even some snow! The tops are just 1.5 hours north of Newcastle.
